Alright, for those who are familiar with the game Dynasty Warriors, this game is not so far off but throw the whole idea of Wu, Wei, and Shu fighting for dominance and add in Japanese Empires fighting for control of Japan. Yes you Japanese fanatics finally have what you want, your very own game where you take control of famous Japanese leaders and some not so real and fight for supremacy.
This game is an Extension of Samurai Warriors 2, there are newly added features to this game and some unique twists that add more to the game… But since I do not want to waste time reviewing Samurai Warriors 2 itself I will list them here. The game play is extremely similar to D-Warriors and the same can be said for the leveling and weapon achievements, you simply grab a character enter a mode and kick some soldiers ass from Edo castle to the ends of the earth (Edo is a battleground in game). The game has a special feature added to the in-game battles asides from the basic attack, power, and musou like DW series, they have added a “Special” feature where each character has a unique blend of tricks up their sleeves, the specials can be viewed in the character select and in the character growth tab to see what the specials are, an example from Shimazu Yoshihiro which allows him to double his attack power but decrease his defenses while another allows him to simply run into enemy troops dealing damage. The game has some extra features for in battles asides from the fighting, the objectives have in-game events where the player has to fill these events out in order to get additional EXP. I have always been a big fan of Civilization games. I have Civ 3 and Civ 4 with all the expansions and what have you. I always enjoyed playing Civ online as well. But like most of my tastes. Most of my friends don't enjoy these games, which is the suck. Anyway, there is a new Civilization coming out, and it isn't for the PC. Infact its for all the consoles, 360, PS3, DS i think and the Wii is also planned. They released a demo of the game today, and the game is due out July 8th, 2008 I will be honest that when I was watching the opening video for the game, that it was going to be MORE RTS style rather than Civ style. Civilization, for those that don't know, was more of a turn based stragedy game. Though as the game starts, it still holds to the roots of the Civ series, it's still turn based. Read more... |

The movie Into the Wild is another one of those docu-movies that tries to capture the extroadinary life of someone who decided to flow in the oposite direction to everyone else. Not so much to glorify that person but to try to show their honest intention and then to show their unfortunate demise due to their blind arrogance and miscalculation.
One of my friends actually reccommended I see this movie, knowing me for over 10 years and having heard me go on countless times about wanting to cut and run into the wilderness. Not sure if she was enthralled by the movie or just thought I had to see it to both appreciate the dream but to also be cautious of it.
First thing that surprised me was that actor Sean Penn directed the movie, adapted from the same titled book written by Jon Krakauer based on the true story of a guy called Christopher McCandless who all the hippies seem to worship right now even the bus he camped out in Alaska is on sale at ebay! I don't know much about the author of the book and I only know two films with Sean Penn. Ok technically one film. Sweet and Low Down my favourite Woody Allen film. The other movie Team America World Police, but Sean is just a puppet in that movie. Much to his disapproval... so I heard. Penn actually pulls this movie together and brings a very beautifully shot, insightful and respectful portrayal of Christopher McCandless. Freshly graduated from University a bright guy with many career possibilities and no financial worries. He wastes no time in escaping from his family and friends and heading out on the open road by himself. With very little experience, preparation or knowledge, no money - he burns it and sends a $24,000 cheque to charity. No note to his parents or sister. He just ups and dissapears and on his journey adopts the name Alexander Supertramp. Clutching literature in his one hand, an apple in the other he mostly gets by randomly trusting in his instincts and whether he likes it or not the kindness of some of the people he meets out on the road.
