Agalloch - Not Unlike the Waves From Ashes Against The Grain. www.agalloch.org Their website is worth visiting as it's quite pretty. Minimal and neat with a lovely lost in a forest caked in snow feeling. They've neatly placed some of their tracks which you can listen too with ease while you glide through pages.
Agolloch are something which a few of my friends on passing mentioned to me but never really seeped into my conciousness until I finally sat down and listened to that track played to you last night. They're a thoughtful mellodic black metal band with a very folky flavour. Mostly instrumental which some people can find irritating. But I really like it. So I'll rave on at you about how wonderful the new album sounds. I was surprised when I found out that they're actually an American band hailing from Portland, Oregon! And they've been around long enough to have released 5 albums. Which I am now on a path to discovering. |

Die So Fluid - Spawn of Dysfunction Album: Spawn of Dysfunction. www.diesofluid.co.uk This British band have been kicking around for a while and have changed names several times over but to me are still and always will be Feline. Fronted by the sexy Grog with her raw, lungy vocals and heavy english accent. More than anything I find myself drawn towards her voice. It's slightly unusual in an music industry crawling around with people who you sometimes find all sound the same. It kind of reminds me of the Sex Pistols and the old skool generation of British Punk musicians. Who had that heavy in your face British accent which made you feel like these people just didn't give a shit about anything or anyone. |

Corrision - Mondrian Face Album: The Rushing End A British Industrial/punk/'Goth' band from my local area! *Bounces up and down* Check them out at: www.myspace.com/corrision & www.corrision.com Nice to hear a decent local band for a change and it's been a while since I've heard any good new heavy industrial music. They don't seem to do very well unless they include some kind of poppy beat. |

Leaves Eyes - Oceans Way Album: Lovelorn (2004) www.leaveseyes.com Another operatic metal band from Norway. They look stunning, hair billowing and clothes flaying. Which is of course, a must. Blonde tall and whispy Liv Kristine Espenaes Krull (long Nordic name included) and husband Alexander Krull (tall, fair, long haired with a shorter name) sing of various legandary tales. Liv has a very interesting light and sweet voice which she carries powerfully and effortlessly. Reminds me of Mortal Love, but perhaps abit harder due to the use of grand orchestrals and there's a greater sense of fantasy. I think they're beautiful and am very glad I bumped into them. |

...and I felt like wakin up from a fuckin autopsy...but hell it was great. A lot of great bands, including a band called Peatbog faeries who really knew how to play the pipes.
Of course.. there was also some 4 guys from the states.. never heard of 'em before, dunno who they are, can't remember their names now either... but they could play... and drink... and have fun on stage.... and make the crowd go wild... Hmm.. some strange fella with big sideburns and a bass... another guy with a banjo... and then this really funny fella jumping around with his mandolin... but the weirdest of them all was a bloke playin both guitar and fiddle... and singin... hmm... hang on some of my braincells comes back to me... oh yeah... it was the hayseed boys |
