Neil Gaiman weaves another beautiful tale of gods and goddesses that were left to fend for themselves within America. Left here by the people, and long forgotten the gods need to figure out how to cope with the fact that they are forgotten. Within the book you will see the gods from the wide spectrum of gods that are found in mythology within the world. Egyptian, Norse, chinese, Hindu, and Native American are the ones that you see most of. But what of the gods of today. The gods that we sacrifice parts of ourselves to day in and day out. Media, Internet, Cars... and so on. Gaiman's pen weaves this whole world together, set in the many different parts of the US, in a very believable fashion. You can't help being drawn into this world. He writes as if this is the world that we live in every day, and these people are the people we see and bump into every day. I couldn't help but be mystified by some of the imagery. Anubis, and Thoth both being morticians, and damn good ones. Bilquis a high class hooker in Hollywood devouring men that give themselves to her freely. I will admit though, writing this review without giving away any of the story arc is difficult. What I can say freely is there are parts that will make you laugh out loud, there are parts that make you day, "OH DAMN!", and there are parts that will leave you breathless. The twists and turns that the main story takes is unbelievable at times. There were a few parts that got a little difficult to follow, but Gaiman will tie up all and every lose end and explain what everything means. Honestly, if you can get your hands on this book, do so. You will enjoy reading it if you enjoy the different mythologies of the world. There are a lot of memorable moments in this book that will stick with you. Get it, read it, and then talk with me about it! :) A Xeserox Must Read!!!
