I have always been a big fan of Civilization games. I have Civ 3 and Civ 4 with all the expansions and what have you. I always enjoyed playing Civ online as well. But like most of my tastes. Most of my friends don't enjoy these games, which is the suck. Anyway, there is a new Civilization coming out, and it isn't for the PC. Infact its for all the consoles, 360, PS3, DS i think and the Wii is also planned. They released a demo of the game today, and the game is due out July 8th, 2008 I will be honest that when I was watching the opening video for the game, that it was going to be MORE RTS style rather than Civ style. Civilization, for those that don't know, was more of a turn based stragedy game. Though as the game starts, it still holds to the roots of the Civ series, it's still turn based. Read more... The graphics have been drastically changed from teh civ series and a lot of the micro management has been removed. You no longer have to use workers to build everything outside of towns. I'll be honest, the game seems a bit simplified from what you get on the PC as well. It is a bit upsetting, but I do understand that when you go to a console, you don't get a lot of the computing power that a PC would have. Also, the graphics, while they have been upgraded have a bright colorful feel to them. I'm not sure what Graphics i prefer as of yet, but sitting down with the demo was a bit nice. Good Details, expicially on an HDTV.
I found the AI in the demo really easy, and I was crushing the computer, until 1250AD... because that's when the Demo ended sadly. The tech tree is a bit different as well, and you get a bonus if you are the first civ to reserach a tech. Also some techs are unlocked when you reach a certain amount of gold at one time. In the end, I find the game to be a bit intriguing, though i don't know if i am going to get it the day that it comes out or give up playing the PC version, all depends if i can find some people to play with. But in the future, I might get it. :)
