This weekend I went out and i bought There Will Be Blood on DVD. I was very intrigued into the movie when i was watching the trailers for it on tv, when it came out. Then to find out that it won a couple of academy awards, i was even more interested in watching the movie. SO i popped in the DVD and i started to watch. ![]() The story begins with a man in a deep mine looking for something. At first you have no idea what it is, but within the first 20 minutes of watching things and getting an idea of the setting, you realize that you are looking at "oil men". Okay. so more or less this is about the oil rush that was going on in California around the turn of the century. Daniel Plainview and his son end up being the main oil men in the story. They go to some small dinky town in cali that they are tipped off has oil, and this begins the war. A war of a religious cult vs a profiteer vs madness in general. The story is very good, and there are some interesting bit of dialog, but the story felt like it was dragging in parts. With a run time of about 158minutes, it is a long movie. The spots in which you feel the story is dragging a bit make you feel like the movie is to long. IN the end though, the spiral into madness is classic. The transition of the main character form a strict oil man to the biggest asshole in the world would make "the neighbor" proud. I was a little shocked at the R rating it got here in the states as well because there is no real foul language, or real nasty bits of violence. Okay, so a couple of nasty death's happen, and a dude breaks his leg. Its all things that were to be expected. They weren't gory or anything like that. If anything, I think it got it's R rating because I could see some younger children having a hard time getting specific parts of the movie. I will give it 3.5 stars out of 5. A story dragging really does ruin it for me, but i have to say the content is interesting, and well is a nice slice into why this country is so dependent on oil. I will defiantly give this film another watch. Trackback(0)

as you stated about this film, there wasnt much gore or any hardcore violence in it... now if you excuse me im going to get my hands on aliens versus predator and watch that.
There will be blood did have its ups and downs, but i liked how the story did progress though it was "dragging" as Xes put it.
